The Niagara Catholic District School Board invites applications for the position of Casual Early Childhood Educator. Casual E****arly Childhood Educators work on an on call**, “as needed”basis, filling in for school Early Childhood Educator****staff who are away or on a leave.** Our Early Childhood Educators along with the Classroom Teacher will plan and implement a learning program within a classroom setting and provide supervision and age-appropriate programming for groups of students.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:
- Employ developmentally appropriate activities to build skills in literacy and cognition through large and small group activities
- Collaborate with the Classroom Teacher to implement curriculum and to address individual student's identified needs, stages of development and interests
- Provide positive social and emotional experiences to strengthen pro-social skills such as sharing, problem solving, and cooperation
- Plan programs and environments for play and activities to create opportunities for developmental progress
- Observe and assess children's progress and behaviour on a routine basis
- Report to parents and supervisors on children's developmental progress with healthy, safe, nurturing and challenging play environments before and after school
- Maintain all appropriate records for students (e.g. attendance, health issues, etc.)
- Assist children in washroom routines, dressing and lunchtime activities
- Accompany children on field trips
WHAT YOU BRING**:**
- Completion of a two-year college diploma in Early Childhood Education with three months childcare experience in an educational setting
- Registration and in Good Standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators
- Proven ability to follow directions, policies and procedures in an appropriate and timely manner
- Commitment to confidentiality
- Experience planning and implementing age-appropriate programs
- Basic computer skills
- Awareness of the cultural and social differences of children
- Ability to assist children with washroom routines, dressing and lunchtime activities
- Strong interpersonal, communication, written and oral skills.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification an asset
LOCATIONS:
- Must be able to travel to all locations within the Niagara Catholic District School Board jurisdiction.
HOURS:
- Varies as needed on a casual on call basis. Must be available Monday to Friday for Elementary School hours
