SCALE MINIMUM MAXIMUM
NONU $36.30/hr $44.00/hr
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the content, and design of the QCH external communication materials including the website, all patient-facing handouts and educational materials, ensuring compliance to established legislations and standards. On an annual basis generate QCH Annual Report, update QCH Patient Handbook and Directory and review content for accuracy.
- Collaborate with the Chief Communications Officer to organize press conferences and tours for elected officials. Prepare briefing materials for media interviews. Draft media pitches and press releases. Maintain current knowledge on general healthcare related media reports, noting relevant stories and notifying staff of upcoming media stories & interviews.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and execute social media strategy including designing compelling graphics, video and social media content. Produce monthly media and social media reports for the Board. Promptly respond to public inquiries and posts.
- Act as first point of contact providing accurate responses to media inquiries in the absence of the Chief Communications Officer and share the responsibility of representing the Communications Department on external committees and task forces with the Chief Communications Officer as designated.
- Collaborate with the Chief Communications Officer to develop and maintain emergency response and crisis communications plans and serve as Public Information Officer backup in the Incident Management System (IMS) Emergency Management structure.
- Support penetration of key health education campaigns with the public, such as vaccination and pandemic response.
- Support the Internal Communications Officer as required
- Other duties as may be operationally required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- College diploma in a communications field (Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Professional Writing)
- 5 years’ experience in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations
- Knowledge in graphic design, website management
- Exceptional writing skills
- Strong attention to detail
PREFERRED:
- Undergraduate degree in communications field (Marketing, Professional Writing)
- 5 years’ experience, including two years in media relations and two years in social media
- Training in Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliance
- Certificate or diploma in digital marketing
- Experience using Google analytics and Google Ad search certification, video editing, SEO optimization and Hootsuite
