Description

Based out of the Sherwood Park office the Director, Operations Services, is a senior member of Inter Pipelines (IPL), Pipeline Operations leadership team reporting to the VP, Pipeline Operations. The Director, Operations Services (the “Director”) will have a pivotal role in the overall success and security of pipeline operations. Through strategic leadership, team management, and a focus on technological innovation, the Director will contribute significantly to the resilience, safety, and efficiency of the company's critical infrastructure in an ever-evolving technological landscape.

The Director is responsible for managing a cross-functional team consisting of SCADA, Control Centre, Leak Detection, Control Systems, Telecommunication, OT Cybersecurity, Measurement & Product Quality, and Sherwood Park Office Services. The Director is a multifaceted position involving strategic leadership, technical oversight, and collaboration across various domains.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Develop and communicate a strategic vision, aligning initiatives with the company's overall business objectives
  • Provide leadership ensuring the integration of technology, security, and operational efficiency in pipeline operations, support, mentor and coach Leaders
  • Develop and lead incident response and crisis management plans specific to SCADA, control systems, and OT cybersecurity
  • Coordinate responses to cybersecurity incidents, ensuring timely and effective resolution while minimizing operational disruptions
  • Develop and implement robust strategies to protect critical infrastructure
  • Evaluate emerging technologies related to SCADA, leak detection, control systems, telecommunication, and OT cybersecurity and drive the adaption of innovation solutions utilizing cutting edge technologies
  • Define the optimal organizational structure and talent requirements necessary to achieve and sustain business objectives
  • Ensure effective employee development plans including annual goals & objectives, role and responsibilities, training and career development plans are in place for team members, support and participate in the annual performance and compensation cycles for your employees
  • Understand the impact costs have on IPL’s quarterly cash distributions, and continually seek to manage costs in the long-term best interests of all
  • Manage team costs within budget, reforecast costs, and provide variance analysis, as necessary
  • Ensure the Sherwood Park offices are fully operational with all utilities functioning properly
  • Oversee the sourcing of contracts and service providers for building maintenance, property maintenance, janitorial services, and security

Education, Skills and Experience

  • 15 years’ experience of leading a department or departments with proven leadership competencies
  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • 10 years of industry experience in overseeing Management programs and systems from risk assessments, to planning and execution of projects, to program learning and improvement
  • Attention to detail, ability for problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Solid working knowledge of applicable regulations and industry best practices
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to internal and external stakeholders are essential

Full time, permanent
