About the role

**Business Consultant – Senior (24 month contract)

Location: Edmonton/Hybrid , AB** Staffing Placement Opportunity We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Business Consultant to support planning and change initiatives within a primary and preventative health services environment. The consultant will work closely with stakeholders to align planning efforts with the broader vision of health service delivery, facilitate workshops, develop strategic communications, and lead the creation of business cases and change management materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, facilitate, and document strategic plans and priorities aligned with the overall vision of the health services team.
  • Identify workstreams and deliverables necessary to achieve long-term strategic objectives.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement through workshops, focus groups, and interviews.
  • Prepare presentations, reports, and strategic communications for senior leadership, steering committees, and project teams.
  • Assist in identifying and managing risks and issues related to strategic initiatives and transformation projects.
  • Develop and execute change management and communication plans to support new initiatives.
  • Create business cases through a consultative approach with sponsors and stakeholders, identifying measurable benefits and performance indicators.
  • Document project and initiative backgrounds, including descriptions, environmental analyses, financial modeling, risk and impact assessments, cost-benefit analyses, and implementation strategies.
  • Provide quality assurance and consistency in business case development, including content review and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Identify and document risks associated with business cases and their implementation.
  • Align and integrate multiple business cases, understanding dependencies and cross-initiative impacts.
  • Conduct industry research and market analysis to inform stakeholders of relevant trends.
  • Support development of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and associated business/system controls in accordance with applicable health information legislation.
  • Create supporting materials such as summaries, presentations, reports, and communication collateral.

Additional Information This is a hybrid role . The resource will primarily work remotely but may be required to attend in-person meetings or work sessions on occasion with reasonable notice. In such cases, travel to/from Edmonton or within Alberta is required at the resource’s own expense. While working remotely, all work and data must remain within Canada. The consultant is expected to work 8 hours per day, attend online meetings, and be available during standard business hours.

Mandatory Qualifications Education & Experience: The resource must meet one of the following educational and experience criteria:

  • A university degree in business, management, or a related discipline and a minimum of four years of relevant experience; OR
  • A two-year diploma in business, management, or a related discipline and six years of relevant experience; OR
  • A one-year certificate in business, management, or a related discipline and seven years of relevant experience.

Work Experience (minimum Required)

  • At least 5 years of experience developing integrated plans and project/portfolio reporting for senior leadership.
  • At least 5 years of experience defining project scopes and goals in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting the design, development, and implementation of digital transformation initiatives or digital delivery programs.
  • At least 5 years of experience in professional business writing, documentation, and communication.

Desired Skills

  • Professional certification such as CAPM, PMP, PgMP, or an active Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience managing executive-level stakeholder relationships, with a deep understanding of business priorities.
  • Experience working within the healthcare industry, with knowledge of business practices, data, technology requirements, and workflows.
  • Knowledge and application of privacy legislation such as the Alberta Health Information Act, particularly in developing PIAs, STRAs, and BIAs.
  • Experience in facilitating discussions with senior management and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects in large, multi-stakeholder environments.
