IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY

Interim Senior Project Manager / Program Manager (Factory Construction)

Reports To: Head of Engineering

Duration: 4 – 6 months

Location: Mississauga, ON (Hybrid)

Our client is a Canadian consumer goods manufacturing company with a global footprint. They are urgently seeking an Interim Senior Project Manager to oversee the development of a business plan for a new production facility that would be the largest project in the organization’s history. The PMP will lead and drive the coordination, communication, and strategic alignment of the business case development and approval. This role involves overseeing cross-functional teams, managing stakeholder engagement, and ensuring seamless internal communications to meet project milestones effectively—ultimately resulting in board approval. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, strategic and highly structured PM that can effectively navigate through complex, matrixed environments.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead the internal project management team, providing strategic guidance and ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Conduct all requirement gathering and subsequently develop, implement, and maintain detailed internal project plans, timelines, and resource allocations.
  • Act as a primary liaison between leadership, engineering, operations, supply chain, and external partners to coordinate activities and facilitate effective communication.
  • Act as a central point of contact for all internal project-related communication across departments
  • Facilitate cross-departmental coordination to ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Oversee internal change management processes, scope adjustments, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate high-level project governance and decision-making processes.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, providing regular updates and ensuring transparent communication across departments.
  • Identify internal process improvements to streamline workflow and promote efficiency.
  • Track and monitor overall project performance, including schedule adherence, budget, and quality standards; escalate issues as needed.
  • Collaborate with external project managers, contractors, and consultants to synchronize internal and external activities.
  • Lead internal reporting, documentation, and presentation of project status to leadership and board members.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative project culture and ensure team engagement.
  • Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and document action items for project teams
  • Escalate any encountered issues through established channels to avoid unexpected delays or failures.

Competencies and Requirements:

  • PMP designation or equivalent certification and 10+ years of project management or program management experience, ideally with large, matrixed, global companies within manufacturing, construction, or industrial sectors.
  • Proven success managing complex, cross-functional projects and multi-disciplinary teams operating in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, Agile, Lean) and tools.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and navigate organizational change.
  • A “roll up your sleeves” mind-set with the ability to also operate strategically, as the situation requires.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to identify potential hurdles and mitigate before they arise.
