Title: Toxic Drug Response Specialist

Salary: $88,948 - $104,644 - $120,341 per year (pay range explained below)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours (core hours Mon-Fri 9am-3pm)

Location: Syilx or Secwépemc (West Kelowna or Kamloops, BC) – Hybrid (Hybrid working is an option in line with FNHA’s flex work policy).

About The Role As Toxic Drug Response Specialist, you will be leading high-level project coordination and developing culturally safe, sustainable mental health and wellness resources in response to the toxic drug crisis within First Nations communities. This role is pivotal in formulating and executing FNHA’s strategic and operational plans for Toxic Drug Response. This role will be the subject matter expert and will be involved in high-level project coordination between the Health Emergency Management and Mental Health and Wellness Teams. Also this role will identify, coordinate, and support regional environmental emergency preparedness efforts.

About You Education

  • University Degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Behavioral/Social Sciences, Social Work, Clinical Psychology or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Master’s Degree is an asset
  • Occasional travel within the Interior

Experience

  • 3-5 years of recent experience in managing multiple initiatives, and complex projects related to program implementation or business transformation preferably in a healthcare system or health organization
  • Experience and or knowledge in harm reduction, decriminalization, addictions and mental health
  • Proven experience in facilitating Community and/or Nation meetings
  • Demonstrated experience responding to the toxic drug emergency and trauma informed practice
  • Demonstrated experience working on multi-partner projects that require strong collaboration and communication
  • Demonstrated experience working in the field of mental health, substance use and wellness development

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the health and wellness governance landscape in First Nations health in the Interior Region of BC, particularly relative to mental wellness
  • Knowledge of theories, practices and principles related to mental wellness, mental health emergency response, and harm reduction
  • Knowledge of emergency management, including the four-pillars approach is desirable
  • Knowledge of First Nations healthcare and/or culture
  • Knowledge of colonization and the unique history of Indigenous peoples

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.

Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements.

The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
