About the role
TDR Transportation & Logistics, a subsidiary of The Municipal Group of Companies is a transportation company providing transport services around Atlantic Canada. We are currently seeking a Dispatcher to join our team based out of our Bedford, NS office.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the supervision and management of a large staff of drivers; strong leadership skills are essential
- Answer phone and digital inquiries for, pickups, customer questions and driver requests.
- Suggest alternative approaches to operations with the goal of gaining efficiencies.
- Prioritize time sensitive jobs amongst scheduled tasks.
- Must be able to work well in a fast paced, team environment
- Sales experience of trucking services and supporting our sales is a requirement for the position.
- Accept responsibility and make quick decisions as required
- Enforce and adhere to Company policy and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:
- Logistics, Long Haul and Tanker experience would be an asset
- Good understanding of Permitting/Routing oversized loads
- Familiar with Transport Industry Pricing
- Experience with Provincial and US regulations
- Solid background in the trucking industry is preferred but not essential
- Strong computer skills are considered an asset
- Ability to multitask and complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work
- Reliable and strong work ethic
- Ability to deal with people tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Post-Secondary education in a related field
- Previous supervisory experience in a transportation environment would be considered an asset
