About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Journeyman Parts Technician to join our busy maintenance team. The successful candidate must be able to work a variety of shifts to meet our service needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Order, track, dispense, and manage parts inventories for various machines and equipment, including heavy equipment, on-road trucking, skid steers, truck fleet, signage, and safety items.
- Handle incoming parts inquiries from internal (shop) and external (field) heavy-duty mechanics via phone, email, or in person.
- Maintain accurate records and detailed orders regarding parts requirements.
- Coordinate deliveries with parts drivers.
- Suggest suitable substitutes or alternatives when timelines, pricing, or availability are barriers.
- Perform general housekeeping of the parts department, including stocking parts.
- Pick parts orders for PM work orders.
- Conduct inventory counts as required.
- Dispatch delivery drivers to pick up and deliver parts as needed.
Typical Shifts
- Monday to Friday: 10–12 hours
- Saturdays: 8 hours (alternating weekends)
Our Ideal Candidate
- 1–3 years of experience in a similar role within the construction industry
- Working knowledge of heavy-duty earth-moving equipment, heavy haul trucks, and service trucks
- Fluent in English, both written and oral
- Holds a Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract
- Experience with forklifts, skid steers, and small cranes (an asset)
- Strong sense of urgency, self-starter, and able to prioritize workload
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Proficient computer skills
- Capable of performing some heavy lifting
