About the role

Required As a financial planner recognized by FP Canada, you help clients make informed decisions about their financial future and improve their financial well-being. You have strong knowledge of the seven main areas of financial planning, including retirement income strategies, investment products, tax considerations, and more. You are a client-focused communicator who uses active listening to assess individual needs and provide personalized, actionable financial plans. Using tools like NaviPlan, you create detailed projections and guide clients through their financial journey with clarity and confidence. You have a solid understanding of accumulation and retirement income products and how they may vary across jurisdictions in Canada. You support plan participants by phone or through virtual tools (e.g., TEAMS). You are a skilled communicator, able to simplify complex financial concepts for the participants you assist. You work closely with teammates located across Canada, primarily in Montreal and Toronto. You are part of a strong, performance-driven team of dedicated individuals who know how to collaborate to achieve shared goals and targets. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Build trust-based relationships with participants using the pillars of financial planning to identify current and future needs, while supporting asset retention and growth within group retirement savings plans administered by Desjardins Financial Security
  • Analyze complex financial situations and prepare comprehensive financial plans
  • Provide advice on retirement income options, investment strategies, government benefits and more
  • Achieve individual and team performance objectives to support organizational growth
  • Stay current on financial planning standards, tools, and regulatory changes
  • Adapt to evolving technologies and processes in financial planning practice
  • Support member asset accumulation and consolidation of external assets within members’ Group Retirement Savings accounts
  • Respond to participant needs by delivering quality advisory services, including handling requests, ensuring follow-up, and preparing reports and recommendations
  • Collect, compile, and analyze financial data for internal use and decision-making support
  • Stay informed about the latest standards, products, and services in your field
  • Adapt to changes in tools and processes within the team and industry
  • Actively promote digital tools (Desjardins website, mobile app) and train participants to use them to enhance their financial autonomy
  • Review peers to ensure accuracy of information before it is shared with plan participants
  • Participate in key Group Retirement Savings (GRS) projects to provide insights and participant perspectives if requested
  • Participate in defined initiatives aimed at strengthening relationships with participants who choose to remain within the GRS environment

What You Bring To The Table

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience
  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) + Life and Accident & Sickness License (via LLQP) issued by FSRA
  • Life insurance license (LLQP) or willingness/ability to obtain it within the first 6 months of employment
  • In-depth knowledge of group savings and financial advisory domains, as well as applicable provincial regulations
  • Advanced English proficiency required due to the nature of the role and interactions with English speaking partners, members, and clients across Canada
  • Available for occasional travel
