Reporting to the Water & Wastewater Foreman, this entry-level position performs duties in a safe, economical and efficient manner to support the Utilities Department. Duties include but are not limited to: water, sanitary, storm sewer, water meter readings, operating hand tools and light equipment.
PRIMARY DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Entry-level water distribution and wastewater collection operator.
- Perform maintenance and assist with repairs on Utility infrastructure, facilities and solid waste assets.
- Assist with the installation and reading of water meters
- Assist in completing Alberta One call Locate requests
OTHER DUTIES:
- Maintain awareness of, comply with, and adhere to the City’s Health & Safety Policies & Procedures and the OH&S Act; by following rights and responsibilities as outlined in the Health and Safety Manual.
- Promote and model safety in the day-to-day operations of the Utilities Department.
- Participate as required in the City’s Asset Management and Emergency Management Programs.
- Other duties as assigned by the Water & Wastewater Foreman and Manager of Utilities.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 or GED
- One year experience in water distribution and wastewater collection is an asset
- AEPA Water Distribution 1 & Wastewater Collection 1 certification preferred
- Class 5 Drivers license with a satisfactory driving record
Salary Rates: $2,146.40 to $2,683.20 biweekly (based on a 40-hour work week depending on skills and experience). The City of Lacombe offers a generous benefits package including health and welfare benefits, pension, and 6% vacation to start (approximately 3 weeks).
