Sessional Instructor, DATA 691, Faculty of Science - Fall 2025

Description
The Department of Computer Science, within the Faculty of Science, invites applications for a number of Sessional Instructor positions in the Fall 2025 term to teach various Data Science 691 modules.
The successful candidates will have responsibilities for instruction and associated duties for one or more modules in the DATA 691 course including: preparing and delivering course content, working with Instructor of Record (IoR) to coordinate dates and times for synchronous course delivery, working with IOR to ensure D2L content and quiz are set up properly, being prepared for class in terms of supplementary material or online teaching technology setup (webcam, mic, etc.), full handling of online meetings including breakout rooms if needed, providing information requested by IOR including bio paragraph, photo, module description, module objectives, any tools or subscriptions needed by students, curated course material for asynchronous learning, and multiple choice questions for module assessment. Note that no in-class teaching assistance is provided unless specifically requested from the IOR with proper justification.
DATA 691 - Integrated Topics in Data Science and Analytics
Provides a framework for students to initiate, perform and successfully complete a real-world project in Data Science and Analytics. This includes problem identification and formulation; discussion of legal, social, and ethical issues in data-driven projects; holistic processing and application of data; communication and data storytelling skills as well as leadership skills. In addition, students will be exposed to emerging topics in Data Science and Analytics. Topics to include: Data Story Telling, Project Management, Marketing Analytics, Industry Trends in AI and Navigating Gen AI, Version Control, Time Series, Deep Learning 1, Casual Inference, ML Ops, Data Bricks, LLM, Auto ML, Deep Learning 2, and Bayesian Statistics.

Qualifications:
Applicants should have a minimum of an MSc in Computer Science or a closely related discipline with a PhD preferred.
