About the Role
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising the safe, efficient, and effective operations of the malting and grain handling processes at the Calgary plant.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership to plant production, shipping, and grain handling operations in conjunction with other production staff.
- Establish operational priorities and schedules for manufacturing products and grain handling processes in a safe and efficient manner.
- Coordinate processing/shipping activities to meet customer requirements.
- Resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Ensure adherence to best in class manufacturing practices and procedures.
- Manage environmental and safety programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations best in class safety performance.
- Oversee production in the bagging line facility
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Brewing or agriculture education an asset.

Related grain, agriculture, malting, or brewing experience is considered an asset.

Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset.

Knowledge of and commitment to general safety procedures in a manufacturing environment.

Thorough knowledge of HACCP.

Experience with labour relations is considered an asset.

Experience in the handling and management of railcars is considered an asset.

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, automation systems, and production technologies, with the ability to leverage data and digital tools

Comfortable working with automation technology, computers, etc,
EDUCATION
- Post-secondary education or combination of education and experience.

With the capability to load rail cars, trucks, bulk vessels and containers, Great Western Malting supplies our customers with the highest quality malts in the United States, Canada, Asia and South America.
We produce a wide range of brewing and specialty malts in both bulk and bags. Great Western Malting also operates a roast house in Vancouver, WA where we produce a range of roast malts for the brewing community. In addition, the Vancouver malt plant is organic certified and provides a range of organic malts for the brewing and food industries.

About the Role
