Location: Oakville, Ontario (on-site)
Position Type: Part-time contract (4 hours/week)
Hours: Monday to Thursday 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Contract Dates: September 2025 – May 2026
Compensation: $38.00/hour - $45.00/hour

HOW YOU WILL THRIVE:
Appleby College is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Weight Training Instructor to lead our Weight Training Co-Curricular program. Working in collaboration with a faculty member, the instructor will be responsible for designing and delivering a comprehensive weight training program for students with a range of experience levels. The program should foster strength development and build positive self-esteem in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment. The instructor will be expected to coach students on proper technique using both verbal and visual cues and must be adept at providing individualized modifications for those with limited experience or pre-existing injuries.
HOW YOU WILL S****UCCEED:
- Design and lead weight training classes for students in Grades 9–12, with a focus on fundamental movement patterns and the safe, effective use of free weight equipment.
- Provide students with timely, constructive feedback to support their skill development, technique improvement, and overall performance.
- Offer students opportunities for growth through individualized assessments and tailored progressions that align with their skill level and training goals.
- Foster a positive, motivating, and inclusive learning environment that encourages all students to stay engaged and reach their full potential.
- Ensuring proper use of all equipment to reduce risk of injury and maintain equipment condition
WHAT YOU BRING**:**
- A post-secondary degree with relevant specialization in Kinesiology, Wellness, Recreation/Sports Management or related field
- Recognized certifications as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and/or other specialized classes is required
- Proven experience working in the fitness industry
- Ability to manage and communicate effectively with students in grades 9-12
- Basic knowledge of human and functional anatomy
- CPR/First Aid and AED certification is required
- Knowledge of basic Health and Safety training
