About the role

Cloverdale Paint has an opening for a full-time Buyer at our facility in Surrey, BC.

The Buyer supports production schedule by ensuring timely execution of raw material ordering within the facility. They work closely with the planning, production, warehouse and customer service teams and are responsible for complying with company purchasing and operational policies.

This is an work on-site role. The salary range for this role is from $60,000-75,000/year for the right candidate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Run replenishment report, procure raw materials, packaging, services, to support a fast-moving manufacturing environment
  • Set up of new materials in the current operating system
  • Coordinate with production planning to ensure raw material component availability
  • Oversee purchase orders, manage deposits and liaise with Accounts Payables team on invoices
  • Coordinate inventory deliveries and forecasts with vendors, expedite orders as required to meet production needs
  • Communicate raw material, packaging shortages, changes in lead time and deliveries
  • Address discrepancies, if any, with vendors to ensure sufficient material inventory for production needs
  • Work with production development team to ensure successful launch of new products
  • Minimize/reduce raw material component excess inventory and disposal due to limited shelf-life
  • Liaise with corporate procurement team to implement quarterly pricing in system
  • Replenishment of office supplies and MRO supplies to support uninterrupted operations
  • Update operating system regularly with necessary raw material min / max information
  • Work independently and in conjunction with plant management to execute the purchase of various raw materials
  • Assess and update corporate pricing, ensuring company best interest are met while maintaining strong supplier relations
  • Evaluate trends in demand data to identify gaps and forecast raw material needs
  • Oversee and manage administrative tasks in relation to the role
  • Maintain a consistent presence on the plant floor conducting cycle counts on key raw materials and packaging
  • Vacation coverage for department as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Procurement

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma required; post-secondary education considered an asset
  • SCMP / NISCL designation is considered an asset
  • Minimum 2 years of related work experience
  • Industry experience, or familiarity with industry products and seasonal trends is an asset
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including MS Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be self-motivated to work independently
  • Detail oriented and disciplined with strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • High level of personal accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to meet commitments on-time under a varying levels of pressure
  • Ability to multi-task and adjust workload based on priorities in a fast-paced production-centered environment
