Position Summary:
As a Retail Parts Counter Associate working for SHAW GMC, you will be the first point of contact for customers seeking automotive parts and accessories at the dealership. You will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, processing parts orders, managing inventory, and ensuring that customers have the right products to meet their needs. This role requires strong communication skills, a passion for the automotive industry, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while working to meet monthly sales targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet customers, identify their automotive parts needs, and provide professional advice on parts, accessories, and repairs.
- Accurately process and fulfill parts orders, ensuring timely delivery of products to customers.
- Assist with inventory management, including receiving, stocking, and organizing parts on the shelves. Conduct regular stock counts and report low inventory levels to the Parts Manager.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of automotive parts and accessories, while staying updated on new products and trends in the automotive industry.
- Assist in promoting and selling parts and accessories to customers, helping to achieve sales targets and contribute to department goals.
- Use dealership systems and catalogs to identify and locate parts for customers, ensuring they receive the correct components for their vehicles.
- Proactively contact customers to confirm order status, availability of parts, and potential upselling opportunities for additional products or services.
- Work closely with other team members, including mechanics and service staff, to ensure smooth operations and effective service delivery.
- Ensure that the parts department is clean, organized, and safe for customers and employees.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications & Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable, safe driving history
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check
- 1–2 years of experience in an automotive parts or retail counter role, dealership experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance terminology, along with familiarity of OEM parts catalogs and inventory systems.
- Previous experience with inventory management and ordering systems.
- Ability to cross-sell and upsell additional parts and accessories.
- Demonstrated communication, consultative, interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to stay self-directed and meet sales targets with minimal supervision
- Comfortable using computer systems for parts lookups and order entry.
- Great attitude with high-energy personality
- Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills. and a personal commitment to delivering high-quality service
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
