About the role
**Contract position with an opportunity to go permanent**
This a contract role and is a key contributor to the organization’s direct and indirect tax operations. The successful candidate will support tax compliance, financial reporting, regulatory filings, and strategic planning, collaborating closely with cross-functional partners, auditors, and tax authorities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare corporate income tax provisions for quarterly and annual reporting, including drafting of relevant financial statement disclosures.
- Conduct thorough reconciliations and analysis of tax-related general ledger accounts.
- Support tax forecasting, scenario planning, and review of legislative changes and industry trends.
- Manage the preparation, review, and timely filing of tax returns and all required supporting schedules.
- Maintain detailed documentation for internal compliance and external regulatory purposes.
- Act as a point of contact for tax-related queries across finance, business units, auditors, and advisors.
- Coordinate and support responses during audits and government reviews by preparing required materials and drafting communications.
- Develop and present tax-related updates and findings to internal teams and leadership.
- Ensure tax processes are documented and aligned with the company’s internal control and compliance frameworks.
Qualifications & Technical Experience
- Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
- CPA designation (or equivalent) is mandatory.
- Minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in tax and accounting, preferably in a large corporate or public accounting firm.
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience with corporate income tax.
- Completion of advanced tax training (e.g., in-depth tax courses or a master’s in taxation) is considered an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS with a focus on income tax accounting.
- Experience using enterprise systems such as SAP and business intelligence tools is advantageous.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, with solid skills in Word and PowerPoint.
