About the role
Job Description The Modern Workplace Architect leads the end-to-end strategy, design, and governance of Microsoft 365 ecosystems and AI-focused modern work transformation initiatives. This role partners with business leaders, IT stakeholders, and delivery teams to architect scalable, secure, and compliant solutions across M365 Copilot, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Viva, Intune, and the broader M365 platform. The Architect translates complex business needs into AI-ready technical blueprints, drives cross-functional alignment, ensures responsible AI integration, and guides enterprise adoption strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Architecture
- Define and drive the enterprise Modern Workplace strategy leveraging M365 stack aligned with business goals, security, and compliance standards
- Create M365-based architectural blueprints for collaboration (Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Yammer), content management (metadata, records), AI copilots (Teams, Outlook, Power Point, Excel), endpoint security, and data protection, privacy
- Guide solution designs that balance innovation, usability, performance, and technical feasibility
- Advise on Microsoft 365 licensing models (E3, E5), roadmap planning, and cost optimization
AI & Modern Work Enablement
- Architect and oversee deployment of Microsoft 365 Copilot, and AI-powered productivity scenarios
- Align AI architecture with organizational security, privacy, and responsible AI principles
- Lead adoption of AI Builder, Power Automate, and Graph APIs for intelligent automation from a low-code, no-code perspective
- Design scalable integration strategies with enterprise systems using Microsoft connectors and APIs
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Define governance models for tenant configuration, data lifecycle, access control, and compliance using Microsoft Purview and Entra ID
- Oversee the implementation of Zero Trust principles, RBAC, conditional access, and content classification for SharePoint and OneDrive data, perform readiness checks for Copilot implementations
- Establish governance frameworks for enforcement and auditing using PS, Defender, and Microsoft compliance tools
Enterprise Adoption & Change Strategy
- Collaborate with Change Managers to build scalable adoption blueprints across departments for M365, including M365 Copilot.
- Guide telemetry-driven interventions using Viva Insights, Productivity Score, and Teams Analytics
- Architect learning journeys and digital nudges using in-app help, Viva Learning, and adaptive cards
Oversee Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Design operational models for monitoring, incident response, and service health
- Mentor engineering and support teams on proactive remediation, Tier 3 escalation handling, and service optimization
- Champion ALM practices across Power Platform and M365 workloads
Stakeholder Engagement & Thought Leadership
- Present strategic recommendations to executive audiences, translating technical vision into business value
- Stay ahead of Microsoft roadmap and community best practices to inform enterprise architecture evolution
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years in Microsoft 365 and cloud architecture; 4+ years leading enterprise-scale modern workplace or digital workplace initiatives, 1+ years leading M365 Copilot Implementation and Adoption across organizations
- Technical Leadership: Deep expertise in Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange Online, Intune, Entra ID, Copilot, Viva), Power Platform, and Microsoft security & compliance suite
- Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in PowerShell, Graph API; ability to design automation frameworks for scale
- AI Integration: Proven track record of implementing Microsoft 365 Copilot with security reviews, licensing, and adoption strategies
- Exceptional strategic thinking, communication, stakeholder management, and team leadership skills
Education Bachelor’s or Master’s in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
Certifications (any Three Preferred) Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, MS-102, MS-700, SC-300, AZ-305, AI-102
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with Azure OpenAI, AI Studio, or Azure Foundry for advanced AI workload design
- Knowledge of Power Platform Governance, ALM, and Center of Excellence (CoE) models
- Understanding of Zero Trust frameworks, NIST SP 800-53, and data sovereignty principles
- Experience with multi-geo, hybrid, or regulated industry implementations
- ITIL v4, TOGAF, or equivalent enterprise architecture methodology
