WHAT IT TAKES
- Excellent working knowledge of the operation and routine maintenance of a veterinary facility, including laboratory, surgical, radiology and anesthetic equipment and apparatus together with a good working knowledge of safety measures related to the operation of a veterinary facility including WHMIS and GHS
- Demonstrated experience speaking to groups and preparing written materials for lab assignments. Experience creating Standard Operating Procedures is an asset.
- Good working knowledge of the English language (written and verbal).
- A demonstrated ability to:
- handle different animal species compassionately and with the use of accepted professional best practices.
- perform all duties of a veterinary technologist, including, but not limited to, anesthesia, dentistry, nursing, radiography and laboratory procedures.
- manage multiple ongoing patient and student needs (i.e. multi-task).
- adapt to changing situations with a calm demeanour.
- communicate courteously and effectively in person, in writing, and over the telephone with students, faculty, administrators, staff, and the public.

Additional Information
This temporary, full-time (35 hours per week) 8-month repeating term position is available starting August 25, 2025. Regular hours of work are Monday – Friday, 7 am – 5pm. Shift days and times may change depending on the Department’s need. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required. The position is located at the Coquitlam campus; however, successful candidate must be available for occasional work at the New Westminster campus and off-site locations. Douglas College is committed to supporting a healthy work/life balance for employees. A modified/flexible schedule and/or hybrid work from home arrangement may be considered, subject to the terms of the College’s Work From Home Policy.
