Overview

This is a senior level Records reviewer position responsible for reviewing all RCMP operational files for quality, integrity and completeness. This is clerical work of moderate complexity relative to the verification and maintenance of information.

Examples of key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assess, determine and perform all required quality assurance procedures from the creation of a file up to and including the conclusion and disposition of a file.
  • Responsible for maintenance of paper and electronic operational files.
  • Review and modify the first instance scoring for Uniform Crime Reporting purposes.
  • Review and prepare files requiring classification and updates for compliance with RCMP Police and Records Information Management practices, reporting to Statistics Canada, and policy requirements.
  • Create, maintain and update training and reference tools, as required.
  • Completion of required reports and files for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Provide assistance with Records front counter services, including, but not limited to warrant confirmations and condition requests, phone calls and other administrative duties as required.
  • Train, mentor and support to Police Records Clerks, when and where required.
  • Responsible for complex portfolios and projects as required.
  • Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Sound knowledge of the rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing the work performed.
  • Sound knowledge of clerical and record keeping methods and procedures.
  • Sound working written and verbal knowledge of business English, spelling and numeracy.
  • Working knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada and other applicable federal and provincial statues enforced by the RCMP.
  • Ability to read occurrence files to determine circumstances surrounding and nature of occurrence.
  • Ability to determine offences reportable to Statistics Canada and to produce a variety of statistical reports on a regular basis.
  • Ability to review file documents to ensure that all required information is recorded and to notify investigating member when file is deficient or to make corrections as required.
  • Ability to use corporate software applications effectively at a basic to intermediate skill level including: Word, and Excel. Strong working knowledge of PRIME
  • Ability to liaise and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in matters applicable to the work.
  • Ability to communicate technical and specialized information effectively and customize communication as appropriate to the audience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate flexibility to adjusting workload changes.
  • Ability to monitor and review files and correspondence for accuracy, completeness and conformance to established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to organize and maintain physical and digital files, records and statistics.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an RCMP enhanced security clearance.

Qualifications and Experience:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent supplemented by computer courses, typing, PRIME computer terminal operator's courses, plµs a minimum of two (2) years of sound related experience, preferably in the Police Department, OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office environment. Maybe required to carry up to 10kg of file boxes.

$36.92 to $43.46/hour

Hours of Work:

2 day shifts (0600-1800), followed by 2 night shifts (1400-0200), followed by a 4 days break.
