About the role

We are currently seeking baristas with full-time and part-time availability (including evenings, weekends, and holidays) for our Reference Library Cafe.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Barista, your main responsibilities include preparing and serving high-quality beverages in a fast-paced café environment, providing exceptional customer service, maintaining cleanliness, handling cash transactions, and promoting additional products. Greeting customers warmly, taking accurate orders, and delivering prompt service is essential. Staying updated with coffee trends, a friendly demeanor, and collaborating with colleagues are key attributes to succeed in this position.

The hours of work for this position may vary based on the needs of the café and may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Part-time and full-time positions are available.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Customer Service: Providing friendly and efficient customer service, taking orders, and addressing inquires.
  • Cleanliness: Maintaining a clean and organized work area, including equipment and seating areas.
  • Teamwork: Collaborating with coworkers and communicating effectively for smooth operations.
  • Order Fulfillment: Ensuring accuracy in beverage preparation, taste, and presentation.
  • Cash Handling: Processing payments, managing cash registers, and handling transactions accurately.
  • Menu Knowledge: Familiarity with menu offerings to provide recommendations and upsell additional products.
  • Upselling: Promoting additional products or specials to enhance the customer experience.
  • Time Management: Efficiently managing tasks and maintaining prompt service during busy periods.
  • Knowledge Development: Continue to use provided web-based training tools to improve skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Customer Service: Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain consistency in coffee preparation and workspace cleanliness.
  • Time Management: Efficiently managing tasks and working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Cash Handling: Experience in handling cash transactions accurately.
  • Hygiene and Food Safety: Knowledge of hygiene practices and food safety regulations.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours an adapt to changing situations.
  • Stamina and Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift and move heavy objects, twist, turn, and reach above shoulder level.
