Certified Customs Specialist (Customs Broker/ Customs Rater)

Courtney Agencies Ltd. is a family-operated customs brokerage and freight logistics company founded in 1955 and located in downtown Vancouver.

Courtney is seeking a Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) (Customs Broker/Customs Rater) to join the customs operations team in downtown Vancouver office.

Responsibilities

Apply your customs classification and processing experience to all modes and types of transactions. Communicate with service providers, clients and colleagues to clear shipments into Canada.

Skills

• ideally, broad tariff and classification experience, knowledge of duties, taxes, HVS and LVS processing, PARS, OGD reporting, trade agreements, rules of origin, ACI and CARM
• Strong data entry (accuracy, consistency, speed) and strong software skills
• Communication with client service orientation
• Attention to detail, critical thinking and numeracy skills
• Commitment to team happiness and success as well as personal development
• Comfortable with complexity and problem solving
• Organized, able to prioritize and deliver in a busy live shipment environment
• Learning orientation and open to feedback
• Reliable and consistent

Education

• CCS designation or equivalent or willing to pursue with company support
• Post-secondary education degree is a strong asset
• Career focus in international trade, customs and/or logistics
