Job description
The Role – Prep Cook
Reporting to the Chef, the Prep Cook is responsible for preparation of components of dishes offered in the bistro, as well as the grab & go section. This role will ensure that specific sections of the kitchen are organized and prepared for the morning, and lunchtime services.
● Ensure all recipes are executed in a timely manner, paying attention to measurements, while also focusing on the highest quality of work and detail and supporting the Chef and team in the smooth running of the BOH.
● Responsible for following standardized recipes, and portioning for completed dishes for the TurF menu.
● Ensure respect and care is taken for all ingredients and display proper technique and safe handling.
● Responsible for working in a clean, and organized manner.
● Ensures correct use, storage, and cleaning of all kitchen equipment and facility.
● Responsible for opening & closing duties which include cleaning, organizing, and weekly/monthly kitchen maintenance projects.
Dishwasher:
- Responsible for the cleaning and sanitizing of all re-usable serving wear.
- Responsible for working quickly and effciently during service to make sure the kitchen and foh team do not run out of clean dish ware.
- Helping to buss tables and maintaining high levels of cleanliness in specific sections of the kitchen and restaurant.
- Maintaining a clean and organized dish area, while aiding the worker staff by returning serving wear, plates, and cutlery
- Ensuring correct sanitation practices, and regularly checking high traffic parts of the café & coffee bar
- Responsible to maintain work areas in the kitchen, and return equipment in an orderly fashion.
- Ensure temperature checks are done on the dish machine, as well as levels of cleaning products
- Sort and remove organic material, containers, waste, and place it in the designated areas
- Ensure that during down times, the kitchen is aided in handling product, and some other forms of preparation for service
- Responsible for opening/closing duties that may include daily/weekly/monthly maintenance projects
Who You Are
● Has minimum 2+ years of experience in a fast paced environment
● Responsible for working during peak hours, which may include mornings, and weekends.
● Has strong principals in regard to proper cooking techniques, and an eye for detail.
● Keen understanding of nutrition, and healthy living.
● Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
● Has an understanding of basic baking technique
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Starting at $18.50/hr.
