Operations Technician (Part-time)

Job Summary The Control Center Operations Technician will monitor and troubleshoot the systems installed across numerous divisions from the Remote Monitoring Center based in Surrey BC. This role requires enhance technical, analytical and troubleshooting skills and to establish the control center.
They will work closely with the Production Controller & Supervisors they support and act as the Eyes, Ears & Hands for Production Controllers in the Control Tower. This position will be 24/7 operations in a rotating shift schedule.
This is a Part-time opportunity located in Peterborough Responsibilities
- Monitor the status of the flow of material through shops and identify risks/outliers to report back.
- Assist in driving the resolution to maximize overall output based on direction of Controller/plan of the group.
- Monitor & help direct material flow and coordinate build sequencing.
- Remote monitoring of deployed units in operation.
- Respond to system alarms and complete initial system actions.
- Analyze and identify cause of system issues, supporting the Field Service Technician with the troubleshooting effort, and troubleshoot issues remotely.
- Work on Electrical, Mechanical and Chemical sub-systems of power generation.
- Repair and / or maintain all truck scales and camera systems.
- Maintain logs of events and escalate complex issues to supervisors and other groups.
- Communicate with maintenance on repairs of trucks, equipment and manage system monitoring route progress updates.
- Use computer tools to schedule and re-route according operation specialist guidelines according to equipment and driver availability.
- Manage system for scheduling truck repairs as needed, make arrangements for drivers to drop and pickup, and work with outside vendors.
- Manage systems for routes update to reflect changes in customers or service requirements daily.
- Support the operations team with the shop by actively engaging in root cause analysis and resolution planning on material issues.
Qualifications
- 2-5 years of relevant experience as a Technician with knowledge of troubleshooting Electrical and/or Computer Systems.
- Prior experience in remote monitoring and troubleshooting (preferred).
- Technical background experience (preferred) or prior experience as an electrician.
- Demonstrated technical writing skills.
- Highly motivated and able to work independently in a high-pressure environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Ability to multi-task and shift priorities as necessary.
- Experience with data entry and the generation of reports.
- Experience providing customer service and the ability to act with diplomacy and professionalism.
- Advanced computer capabilities.
- Dispatch experience an asset.
- Experience and knowledge of the waste management or transportation industry an asset.
- Supervisory experience an asset
