Family Practice ROS (300-1006)
The Quadra Island Medical Clinic, located on beautiful Quadra Island, which is a 10-minute ferry crossing from Campbell River, is looking for a full-time family physician. Quadra Island Medical Clinic acts as a hub for access to Primary Care services, including being part of the local Primary Care Network. The clinic is a long-established multi-disciplinary clinic in the community, and currently has laboratory services twice a week, on site ECG and Holter monitors, and in house social worker and regular visiting mental health nurse and clinical pharmacist. The current family physician is looking at reducing their services and panel size, so the new physician would be able to assume a partial panel as well as attached new patients from the several hundred unattached patients locally. The role of the FP is well established in the community and this clinic. This position will work alongside a Nurse Practitioner. The Medical Clinic is supported and run by the Quadra Island Health Society. The clinic is well supported by the Quadra Island Health Society who manage the day-to-day running of the clinic and employs the office manager and MOAs.
There is a 24/7 paramedic station on Quadra Island that is responsible for covering out of hours calls.
Overhead: Overheads are negotiated as an annual fixed sum, currently around 25%.
Benefits:
May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including:
- Recruitment Incentive: up to a maximum of $10,000 (pro-rated based on FTE)
- Relocation: up to a maximum of $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from)
- Fee Premium 9.98%
- Annual Flat Fee $15,458.40
- Rural CME 2,200/annum for years 3-4 in community, increasing to a maximum of $4,400/annum after 4 years

Community Information:
An amazing and supportive community of approximately 3,000 people year-round, and a very popular tourist/seasonal destination. Quadra Island has an elementary school, a large community centre for cultural events, hiking/biking trails, climbing, fishing and golfing. We also have many active social groups, resorts, a full ambulance service and a local volunteer fire department with first responders. We are located very close to the ferry terminal, and physicians have the option to live either on Quadra Island, or in the nearby city of Campbell River, which is only a 10-minute ferry ride away.
