OVERVIEW:
We offer flexible shifts and are looking for applicants with day, evening and weekend availability. Shifts range from 3-5 hours in length. Part-time employees can work a maximum of 24 hours per week.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Recreation & Leisure, the Recreation Services Representative is responsible for providing excellent customer service, reception and cashiering service for the Leisure and Activity Centre and the W.J. Henderson Recreation Centre. This position is the main point of contact for the public in our recreation centres and responds to and/or directs all telephone and counter inquiries; receives and processes program registrations, occasional facility bookings, admission fees and product sales.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
- · Enrolled in Ontario Secondary School
EXPERIENCE
- Prior experience in customer service
KBOWLEDGE, SKILL, & ABILITY
- Proficient with computer software applications, (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) and the ability to adapt quickly to new software.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing with a wide variety of individuals in a courteous and competent manner and ability to resolve issues in a professional manner, using effective de-escalation techniques
- Team oriented with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a high- functioning team.
- Basic knowledge of general office procedures and practices, with good keyboarding skills
- Good organizational and time management skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
- Able to work with minimal supervision and take initiative to assist others and contribute to improving processes.
- Candidates must be reliable, enthusiastic, and passionate about providing exceptional customer service experiences while understanding the importance of confidentiality.
- Able to take initiative and complete work in a detail oriented and timely manner.
- Effective at multi-tasking.
- Ability to make quick decisions.
- Ability to manage difficult situations and manage conflicts in a calm and professional manner.
- Work a flexible schedule to accommodate program and facility needs, including evenings and weekends.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Reliable transportation
- Obtain and maintain satisfactory vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check (CPIC).
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal:
Daily communication with Recreation and Municipal staff
External:
Daily interaction with Township residents and patrons
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Primarily, office environment working conditions apply. May be seated for long periods (3-4 hours). Some moderately heavy lifting, with occasional heavy lifting during set-up procedures. May have exposure to smells such as pool chlorine, gym atmosphere. Ability to walk, climb stairs or otherwise travel around the facilities is required.

About Loyalist Township
On January 1, 1998 the former Townships of Ernestown, and Amherst Island, and Village of Bath, amalgamated to create one municipality called Loyalist Township.
Loyalist Township is located in the southern most part of Lennox and Addington County, on the shores of Lake Ontario, midway between Toronto and Ottawa.
