Your Team:
Join the Compliance team at Flair, where maintaining the highest standards of safety and security is essential. The Security Manager is responsible for overseeing daily security operations and managing the airline’s Security Management System (SeMS). This role ensures that Flair complies with regulatory requirements and industry standards while implementing effective security policies and procedures.
This role is based on-site at one of our offices in Edmonton, AB (YEG), Vancouver, BC (YVR), Toronto, ON (YYZ), or Calgary, AB (YYC).
A Day in the Life:
- Oversee daily security operations, including reviewing, investigating, and addressing security-related reports.
- Conduct and support internal and external security investigations as required.
- Manage security-related documentation, including investigation files, trackers, statistics, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Security Management System (SeMS) and company Security Manual, ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
- Create, audit, and update security training programs; deliver initial and recurrent training as needed.
- Assess and mitigate security threats and risks, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Manage security-sensitive information and documents to maintain confidentiality and compliance.
- Provide guidance to senior leadership on security matters and serve as the primary point of contact for law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and industry partners.
- Represent the airline in security committees and working groups.
- Foster a culture of security awareness across the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Role:
The preferred candidate should exemplify Flair's core values of respect, honesty, accountability, and efficiency while demonstrating success in previous roles. Additionally, we are seeking individuals who possess:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of security leadership experience, with a proven ability to develop, coach, and lead security operations.
- Extensive knowledge of aviation security regulations, including those set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
- Experience conducting investigations related to criminal, civil, and regulatory security matters.
- Hands-on experience leading security audits, risk assessments, and compliance programs.
- Experience developing and delivering security training programs.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of Security Management Systems (SeMS) and their application in aviation.
- Ability to interpret and apply security laws, regulations, and industry standards to company policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of security technologies, including video surveillance, access control systems, and threat detection tools.
- Expertise in security threat and risk assessment, with the ability to recommend effective mitigation strategies.
- Strong decision-making skills, particularly in crisis situations.
- Ability to build relationships with law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and security partners to enhance security operations.
- Experience managing budgets and operational security plans.
- Requirements:
- Clear criminal record check and satisfactory references.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC).
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without restriction.
