About the role
We're seeking a Lead Java Developer to provide technical leadership while remaining deeply hands-on within our streaming technology team. In this role, you'll be an individual contributor who drives technical excellence and innovation, proposes architectural solutions, and collaborates with system architects on complex design decisions. You'll help shape our high-volume, real-time data processing solutions that power some of the most recognized entertainment streaming platforms in the world.

Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical authority while remaining hands-on, writing production code for our microservices-based streaming systems
- Design and architect robust, scalable solutions for stream processing services, collaborating with system architects on technical direction
- Lead technical design discussions and propose implementation approaches for complex features
- Evaluate and recommend technologies, frameworks, and patterns to solve business problems
- Mentor other developers through code reviews and technical guidance
- Drive engineering best practices and quality standards across our service
- Implement critical components of our event-driven, distributed systems that process real-time data at scale
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Java 11+ development with demonstrated technical leadership experience
- Expert-level knowledge of Maven/Gradle build systems
- Deep expertise in Spring Boot, Spring IOC, AOP, and REST API design
- Hands-on experience architecting microservices, event-driven systems, and containerized applications
- Practical experience with at least one major cloud platform and its architectural patterns
- In-depth understanding of modern caching mechanisms, databases, and storage solutions
- Ability to perform sophisticated trade-off analysis and cost estimation based on current requirements and future scalability needs
- AWS experience, particularly with DynamoDB, Elasticache, Aurora RDS, S3, Lambda, and IAM
- Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker expertise with focus on architectural patterns
- Experience designing systems with streaming technologies like Kinesis or Kafka
- Data processing frameworks such as Flink, Spark, or Apache Beam
- Infrastructure as code using Terraform with a focus on scalable, maintainable designs
- Proven track record of architecting and implementing complex, distributed, high-load systems
- Scala programming skills, especially with Cats library
- Excellence in producing architectural artifacts including system diagrams, technical documentation, and design decision documents
