PURPOSE
Reporting to the Sr Manager, within the H&F, Protective and Goalie Business Unit, the purpose of the CAD Engineer is to bring a 3D CAD skillset to the multidisciplinary team. This person will also lead FEA and DOE to support development of hockey equipment. The purpose of the position within H&F Protective and Goalie business unit, is to bring a 3D CAD design skillset to all critical projects/concepts being explored. This multidisciplinary team approach and collaboration to design and develop new advanced concepts is the key to CCM’s product innovation pipeline by category. Success will yield leadership in product performance.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Create, design, and develop functional, original and performing solutions leading to significant product or development tools innovations;
- Convert the concepts ideas into functional 3D prototypes (thorough knowledge of software design 2D and 3D, rapid prototyping and crafts);
- Participate in brainstorming and explore how to meet customers’ needs;
- Participate in the development of new devices and protocols to assess prototypes;
- Participate in product development committees;
- Document technical description for patent applications;
- Define technical and quality specifications.
- Working closely as a creative team member with Product team (Engineering and Design).
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor in mechanical engineering combined with 3D CAD experience (3-5 years) and/or industry experience equivalency;
- Takes initiative, autonomous, self-motivated, risk taker, practical approach to 3D design and innovation, with a hands-on approach;
- Organized and can meet delivery expectations on time;
- 2D and 3D design skill-set;
- Extensive working design knowledge of Creo Parametrics and/or Solidworks;
- Working knowledge of: Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, Word, and Windows suite;
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods and assembly an asset;
- Great team player and is capable of working on multiple projects at the same time, multi-tasker;
- Problem solver for complex and novel concepts;
- Good communicator in both written and oral, bilingual English and French;
- Knowledge of the sport of hockey and its equipment a great asset.
