Here’s the job opportunity…

We are looking for a detailed oriented and driven Actuarial Assistant who will be working in our Corporate Actuarial Department supporting all aspects of actuarial reporting, including IFRS 17, quarterly valuation of actuarial liabilities, capital reporting, drivers of earnings/core earnings, business forecasts, experience studies, sensitivity / shock testing, and financial condition testing.

You will:

  • Contribute to developing and maintaining comprehensive and reliable actuarial models
  • Ensure clear and concise communication to team and manager
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for financial and capital reporting
  • Assist in the preparation of actuarial studies and presenting results
  • Become thoroughly familiar with AXIS, Excel, and other relevant tools
  • Become familiar with the IFRS 17 accounting and LICAT capital processes
  • Build subject matter expertise in the assigned line of business (understand valuation, capital, business drivers, drivers of earnings/core earnings, etc.)
  • Provide insight to assist with streamlining the valuation and capital infrastructure

What we are looking for…

  • University degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related area
  • Progressing towards attainment of Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA)
  • Experience in insurance and actuarial work would be an asset
  • Excellent quantitative and data analysis skills
  • Strong knowledge of Excel. Experience in AXIS and programming tools (e.g. SQL, Python, R) would be an asset
  • Good written and verbal business communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively to deliver on organizational goals
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines while multi-tasking
