About the role

  • Based at NSC with tool of trade vehicle to travel to sites

We are currently seeking expressions of interest for an internal secondment opportunity as a Trade Waste Officer, for approximately 11 weeks starting mid-August. This role plays a key part in protecting Unitywater’s sewer network and treatment infrastructure by regulating trade waste discharges from commercial and industrial premises.

In this role, you will:

  • Assist in the assessment and regulation of trade waste customers.
  • Liaise with customers, plumbers and internal stakeholders regarding pre-treatment systems and discharge requirements.
  • Conduct inspections and provide advice on Unitywater’s sewer admission standards and servicing guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to system and process improvement.

Required

  • Trade qualifications or relevant qualifications to the position
  • Knowledge of trade waste management, including pre-treatment systems, servicing requirements, sewer admission limits and specifying discharge conditions
  • A valid C Class Driver’s Licence

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the Unitywater network and modern sewage treatment plant processes
  • Ability to analyse technical information and communicate it clearly to internal and external stakeholders
  • A team-focused mindset and openness to new ways of working
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • A passion for delivering excellent customer service and adding value
  • Adaptability in using new IT systems and digital tools
