Your Next Challenge Reporting to the Supervisor - Water Management & Geotechnical Engineering, you will be part of the Environment Department. You will ensure that the mine dewatering and surface water management goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Design, size, and implement water management systems for surface, open pit and underground dewatering (pump and piping systems);
  • Prepare engineering documents including specifications, design reports, drawings, as-built reports, technical memos, water balances, tailings deposition plans, water management plans and operational specifications for dewatering and tailings deposition infrastructure (pumps and piping);
  • Perform water level projections and seepage analyses;
  • Plan water and tailings management activities, such as weekly dewatering plan, spring melt water management, winter readiness, tailings deposition;
  • Analyze the performance of reclaim and dewatering infrastructures;
  • Provide technical expertise and implement engineering solutions to remediate and ensure the performance of water and tailings infrastructures;
  • Ensure continuous improvements and optimization of dewatering systems and conduct cost analyses;
  • Perform field work activities including field inspection and QA/QC of dewatering and tailings infrastructure construction projects and commissioning;
  • Manage various mandates with consultants;
  • Promote a safe work environment by ensuring that safety standards are met for design, construction and operations of water management systems;
  • Maintain regular communication and work in collaboration with operations, planners, construction teams, and the water management specialist to ensure compliance with the site water management strategy;
  • Complete various projects assigned by the Water Management & Geotechnical Engineering Supervisor.

What You Need To Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Water Engineering, Geological Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field;
  • 1-5 years of experience with dewatering or water management systems design and troubleshooting;
  • Experience with tailings deposition planning and compliance;
  • Eligibility for a NAPEG membership;
  • Experience with pumping system design tools;
  • Experience in arctic environments is considered an asset;
  • Experience with industrial size motor driven centrifugal pumps and submersible pumps is considered an asset;
  • Experience with instrumentation and data analysis is considered an asset;
  • Project management experience is considered an asset;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Working knowledge of Muk3D, Deswik, Civil3D, or other mapping software is considered an asset.

Note that the official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.

Your Work Schedule

  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
