About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in the Burnaby Office. This full-time role is essential to the accurate and timely processing of accounting transactions and plays a key part in the month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting. You’ll be working closely with the Senior Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to ensure compliance with GAAP, and to identify and implement opportunities for process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily banking activities and prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
- Perform reconciliation of general ledger and subledger accounts.
- Assisting with preparation of monthly and yearly financial statements with detailed variance analyses.
- Monitor and clear outstanding items in balance sheet accounts regularly.
- Prepare PBC (Prepared by Client) audit schedules and address audit queries.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
- Maintain and enhance financial accounting and control systems.
- Support foreign currency transaction processing.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of monthly tax returns and payments.
- Contribute to ad hoc financial analysis, special projects, and other duties as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- CPA designation preferred (or currently pursuing CPA).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, GAAP, and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines with a high level of accuracy.
- Proficient in ERP systems; experience with Microsoft GP is a plus.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Willingness to travel 1 day to our Fraser Valley office as needed.
