What You'll Be Doing
Fresh Prep is seeking a Sous Chef, with a passion for food and experience with leading a team you can be proud of. You see yourself as a Mentor first and you are looking for an opportunity to show off your skills in assisting with training and building a new Kitchen from the ground up and a resulting new Team that comes with it!
This position would report into the Executive Sous Chef, where you will be overseeing production in our dedicated Hot and Cold Kitchen operations, which will be launching our new Ready to Eat direct to consumer product line of Appetizers, Sauces, Soups,and Meals.
- Leading our new Kitchen Team that will process, prep, cook, plate, and package a variety of Ready to Eat products for a direct to consumer delivery business.
- Responsible for the Kitchen’s labour, grocery, and supplies budget performance under a weekly rotating menu schedule
- Be fully accountable for all product quality, taste, presentation as well as on time, and in full order fulfillment within a CFIA registered facility
- Ensure the kitchen operates alongside provincial and federal health and safety codes
- Ensure we have the right equipment and supplies to keep up with ever expanding list of recipes and rapidly growing customer volumes
- Work to continuously improve processes and results, collaborating with other departments to execute facility-wide initiatives
- Collaboratively partner with our Purchasing and Warehouse teams to ensure we the have the right quality and quantity of ingredients on hand to meet customer orders, while reporting accurate ingredient yields and usage
What We Are Looking For
- Culinary Diploma or Culinary Red Seal required
- 5 years of experience supervising productivity, efficiency, and process improvement in a commercial kitchen setting is required.
- 5 years experience liaising with purchasing, quality assurance, and human resource departments is required.
- A problem solver’s mentality; you see problems as opportunities and see the benefit of doing things differently
- Strong communication skills, ability to adjust your communication style to different audiences, relay information clearly and concisely
- Ability to multitask, maintain efficiency, and deliver results on time
- Low ego; you take feedback well, and are focused on getting to the best possible outcome

Our customers can choose from 10 delicious meals per week, delivered to their door in sustainable packaging, for as low as $10.99 per serving.
All ingredients come pre-cut and pre-portioned, reducing many steps of the cooking process – making dinner time easier and quicker. Customers can also choose from a menu of Add-ons including quick ready-to-eat meals, salads, healthy snacks, juices and pantry staples.
We offer meal kit options for all diets and preferences - 50% of our weekly menu is vegetarian or vegan and customers can select gluten-aware and carb-conscious meals.
