Position Type: Part-Time

Schedule: 24 hours a week, some evenings, and weekends may be required. Hours are scheduled to suit the needs of individuals supported.

Wage: $26.98 - $30.82

Job Summary

The L.I.F.E. (Learning, Inclusion, Friendship, Employment) Facilitator plays a vital role in empowering individuals to pursue lifelong learning, build connections, develop friendships, and achieve employment-related goals. This role focuses on helping individuals enhance their independence, confidence, and community engagement by fostering natural support networks that may include family, friends, and community members.

Under the direction of the Program Coordinator , the L.I.F.E. Facilitator collaborates as part of a team to provide personalized support that adapts to the evolving needs of each person. The role follows a flexible, responsive service model designed to adjust as individuals gain independence and develop natural supports; while ensuring they remain supported in moments of transition or need.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with their person-centered goals in areas such as lifelong learning, employment, social inclusion, and recreation.
  • Provide in-person hands on support and planning-based support based on research, planning and coordination.
  • Advocate for individuals' choices and support their growth by fostering independence, building confidence, and developing natural supports.
  • Provide support and facilitate skill development in job-related areas, including job search strategies, applications, resume writing, and interview preparation.
  • Train, support, coach, and monitor individuals in various work settings, emphasizing work skills, proper hygiene, product quality, quantity, and service expectations.
  • Collaborate with community partners (CLBC, HSCL, DDMHT, Behavioral Consultants, etc.) and Bonaventure leadership to ensure responsive support services.
  • Promote dignity and respect for each individual while upholding their rights and individuality.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols and report any safety concerns promptly.
  • Encourage meaningful community participation and assist individuals in connecting with local groups and opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Preferred formal education (Diploma or Degree, CSW, RCA, SIVA etc.) and/or work experience with persons with diverse-abilities and/or other relevant experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal behavior and communication skills
  • The desire and ability to work with persons with diverse-abilities and demonstrate personal suitability to promote dignity, independence, individuality.
  • Ability to work independently in a high stress environment.
  • Must be in good health with the physical ability to carry out the duties of the position and shift responsibilities.

Required Documentation

  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License.
  • RCMP Criminal Record Check (Schedule A - Employer will file).
  • First Aid with CPR Certificate.
  • Food Safe Level 1 Certificate.
  • Immunization Records or Medical Exemption.
  • Signed Bonaventure Hire Package.
  • 3 References - (One must be a most recent employer).
  • Physician's Declaration.
  • TB Screen.
