About the role

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage/Lead a rotating shift operating team
  • Ensure department is operated within the guidelines set forth holding both yourself and your employees accountable for results
  • Participates in and conducts the technical reviews of mill technicians training on your team
  • Participates in shutdown planning, work prioritization, and execution
  • Conducts and applies behavior modification standards as necessary
  • Ensures safe working conditions and behavior
  • Ensures reliable operation of processes and equipment in the Finishing Area
  • Makes regular rounds in all process areas
  • Communicate with and expect communications from technicians and manager
  • Participates as a leader on the mill-wide Emergency Response Team
  • Completes and conducts training/selection evaluations and annual reviews according to Work System Guidelines
  • Participates in review of existing SOPs, development of new SOPs, and training of personnel as needed
  • Any additional duties, as necessary, assigned by the manager

Required Qualifications / Experience

  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in Final Products Department
  • Excellent safety record with a history of being proactive in safety efforts
  • Excellent work and attendance record
  • Ability to make confident decisions
  • Strong leadership qualities and well respected by management team and peers.
  • Strong knowledge and support of the Work System with demonstrated leadership skills, such as committee involvement, special projects, and community organizations
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Proficient planning, organization, and time-management skills
  • Results-focused and detail-oriented
  • Technical knowledge of the papermaking process

Preferred Qualifications / Experience

  • Experience leading and developing teams
  • Experience with SAP, DMSI (MAINtelligence), Kronos time entry, and working with Microsoft Office products is desirable
