About the role

Bangkok Garden is housed in a historical building, and has been introducing Authentic Thai food and culture to Toronto over 40 years ago.

The primary function of the server is to provide exceptional service and sales of food and beverage and to treat our guests in a courteous and professional manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Check side station for cleanliness and stock supplies as required.
  • Check the kitchen and the bar for daily specials and shortages.
  • Ensure that your work area is clean, well maintained and that tables are accurately set.
  • Greet guests warmly and genuinely, making guests feel at home, proactively present menus, make recommendations including up-selling to increase cheque average, including wines that complement patron’s meals, and responding to questions regarding food and beverages.
  • Take orders and relay to kitchen and bar staff.
  • Serve food and beverages, checking back throughout service for guest satisfaction and proactively refilling water.
  • Present bill to patrons and accept payment.
  • Perform sensory evaluation of wines.
  • Know your wine list, wines by the glass & flights thoroughly.
  • Know your beer selection thoroughly.
  • Work in an organized and timely manner, ensuring the accuracy of all guests’ orders and that the delivery of food is timely.
  • Report any comments/concerns about/from guests and/or staff to the Duty Manager.
  • Set a fine example to fellow employees as to reliability of punctuality, attendance, grooming and dress.
  • Bring any ideas to save time, effort and money or to improve efficiency to the attention of the Manager.
  • Follow all Company policies and procedures.
  • May assist with set up for group functions.
  • May assist with hosting etc. as directed/required.
  • Confidential matters are discussed only with authorized personnel.

  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Smart Serve certificate must be acquired if not already possessed.

* Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in a server role related to either the Restaurant/Hospitality or Spa industries. * Courses completed in the field of Hospitality an asset.

Ability to learn and operate Point of Sale effectively using company practices.

  • Ability to work on a flexible schedule: days, evenings and week-ends
  • Punctual and committed to work schedules.
