About the role
The Junior Controls Engineer/Technologist supports the design, programming, and commissioning of industrial control systems. Responsibilities include assisting in control system design, selecting and procuring equipment, creating electrical schematics, programming PLCs and HMIs, and providing onsite support for system commissioning. The role also involves maintaining clear documentation and troubleshooting technical challenges. This position is ideal for candidates with foundational knowledge of control system design, strong communication and organizational skills, and a willingness to travel.
Daily responsibilities may include:

Control System Design: Assist in the design and layout of electrical control systems, ensuring quality and functionality for a range of industrial applications.

Equipment Selection & Procurement: Select appropriate components and equipment, coordinating with vendors for timely procurement to meet project needs.

Electrical Schematic Design: Create and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts to guide accurate installations.

PLC Programming: Develop and test control logic using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), ensuring functionality and reliability.

HMI Programming: Design and program Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) for user-friendly operation of control systems.

Site Commissioning: Support onsite installation and commissioning, troubleshooting and resolving any issues to ensure smooth integration and operation of systems.

Documentation & Reporting: Maintain clear documentation for all control system designs, software programs, and installation procedures.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

Degree or Diploma in Automation, Mechatronics, Robotics or Electrical Engineering/Technology

Familiarity with PLC and HMI programming, electrical schematics, and control system design fundamentals.

Excellent communication skills

Good organizational skills

Commitment and ability to travel international and locally.

Co-op or capstone experience from a manufacturing industry would be beneficial.
