Position Summary

Vancouver Community College’s Continuing Studies is looking for skilled clinical instructors to teach in our Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Certificate Program. Successful candidates will be offered a term contract position, with opportunities for continued instructional assignments.

This position is responsible for teaching students in an assigned field of study using a diverse set of instruction methods and tools. The position prepares teaching materials, provides assessments of students’ progress, and develops lesson plans/syllabi. The position is also responsible for upholding the College’s policies and procedures and for participating in meetings.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Utilize industry knowledge to teach and engage students using a diverse and systematic plan of presentations, demonstrations, discussion groups, and clinical sessions.

  • Effectively communicate with students, in a group or individual setting, using both visual techniques and verbal communication.

  • Prepares, administers and marks assignments and other assessments to monitor and evaluate students’ progress.

  • Provides guidance and detailed feedback on students’ progress.

  • Creates a positive learning environment by consistently demonstrating preparedness for class, by motivating students to accomplish educational and personal goals and by providing the opportunity to receive and act on student feedback.

  • Maintains an effective stewardship of classroom facilities, equipment, materials and supplies.

  • Adheres to VCC policies and procedures including being available to students and maintaining confidentiality of students and information.

  • High degree of proficiency by keeping up with present day standards in the profession.

  • Proven commitment to professional development.

Salary Range - Prorated based on FTE

$40 – $50/hour depending on qualifications and experience.
