What you’ll do (the highlights)
As a Direct Support Professional, you will be part of a team and the go-to person for the people living in this community home.
What that looks like:
- Receiving support and guidance from your location supervisor.
- Making sure the environment is clean, safe, and comfortable.
- Providing personal hygiene, grocery shopping, housekeeping, meal preparation and socialization.
- Organizing the day and keeping accurate records are essential duties.
- Encouraging and supporting people at DASCH to engage in community activities based on their likes and abilities.
- Advocating for people at DASCH when needed, keeping their best interests in mind..
- Being a role model to people living at DASCH as you support their independence with respect and care
What you bring (and why you’ll thrive here)
DASCH team members are special. They have a mix of the right personal characteristics and specific skills for their work.
Your qualifications:
- Completed Grade 10 in Canada, or you have achieved Level 6 on the Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment.
- A Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License (Intermediate Stage acceptable)
- Have a smart device with internet access.
- Experience with intellectual disabilities or a certificate in Disability and Community Support, Health Care Aide, or a related field is helpful.
- Background in health care is an asset.

Pay + perks (how we support you)
- Salary: $18.40 - $20.00 per hour, depending on your experience and education.
- Comprehensive employer-paid training.

- Optional RRSP and TFSA plans.
- Paid mileage.

DASCH supports people living in over 50 homes throughout Winnipeg. People can participate in personalized social, educational, vocational and recreational services that provide learning opportunities and greater independence.
Since the movement from institutionalization to community living evolved, various advocacy groups like DASCH have made large strides in empowering an otherwise historically overlooked population of our society.
