Reports to: Epic Application Manager

Work Model: Hybrid (Must be located in Ontario)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Shifts: Days; 9am to 5pm

Status: Temporary Full Time

Position Summary The Application Analyst - Epic Beacon is an integral member of the Digital Software Services (DSS) team. This position works closely with other members of the DSS team to support identified applications for University Health Network (UHN) including both clinical and business applications. The Application Analyst - Epic Beacon will participate in support activities, system and business analysis, system upgrades and testing. The energy, enthusiasm, and dedication of this individual will allow the Digital Software Services team to contribute to the successes of the organization.

Duties

  • Provides technical support of IT application(s)
  • Maintains strong knowledge of supported applications
  • Provides day to day support of applications including working with customers, our HIS vendor Epic, and other vendors in troubleshooting and identifying options to resolve issues;
  • Performs application testing of new releases, upgrades, fixes and other product changes;
  • Participation in roadmap planning for application upgrades in conjunction with business users and vendors;
  • Provides customer service in the form of end user meetings (clinical or business); attend and/or facilitate monthly established end user meetings or ad hoc meetings;
  • Periodic assignment to Digital projects e.g. Epic Optimization Phase demand items, new application implementation or integration;
  • Provides advice, guidance and training to end-users in the operation of supported application(s)
  • Remains up-to -date with all aspects of applications in use
  • Monitors literature for information related to the application
  • Identifies training requirements/opportunities to improve application support
  • Works with other Digital teams to ensure high service levels are maintained;
  • Works closely with other Digital Application support teams to solve issues;
  • Documents system problems and resolutions for future reference;
  • Participates in weekly team meetings and huddles;
  • Participates in an on-call roster for 24/7 support coverage
  • Performs cross functional duties, as assigned or requested
  • Adhering to Hospital Value Statements and Divisional/Departmental Policies and Procedures
  • Maintains current knowledge of and practice/comply with University Health Network mission and value statements, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulated Health Discipline Act, and other relevant regulations, legislation and guidelines.
  • Maintains strict patient confidentiality
  • Accesses patients’ electronic records only as required to perform work duties and shred all waste paper containing patient names.
  • Performs cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.
  • Works in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contravention’s of the Act, in a timely manner.

Qualifications Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience in a related area may substitute for degree.
  • Experience in Oncology environment and a strong understanding of the healthcare system and hospital sector preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of integration points within oncology, including scheduling, lab, radiology, billing and pharmacy dispensing.
  • Preferred but not required certification in Epic Beacon Oncology
  • Additional certification in one or more of the following Epic applications is preferred: Ambulatory, ClinDoc or Orders. Other Epic certifications welcome.
  • Advanced skills using software tools such as Visio, Microsoft Project, Excel, Word and SharePoint and other tools as necessary.
  • Proven, in-depth analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to systematically analyze incidents/problems, identify root cause, draw logical conclusions and determine/recommend practical courses of action.
  • Must have knowledge of tools and techniques for anticipating, recognizing, and resolving technical problems.
  • Previous project/systems implementation experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and follow-up skills.
  • The ability to probe for information about the underlying needs of the organization and user community, which directly influences how the system will be built.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with project leadership and subject matter experts.
  • Proficient organizational, time management and critical thinking skills with the ability to effectively problem solve and prioritize in a high-pressure environment.
  • The ability and interest to learn and apply new technologies.
