Position Summary
The Senior Associate will support the SVP, Investment Management in portfolio management, direct lending, and strategic investment initiatives. This individual will perform portfolio analysis for CSMC’s various funds (Cameron Stephens Mortgage Trust [CSMT], Bay Street High Yield Fund [BSHY], Western Canada High Yield Mortgage Fund [WCHY], and any new funds TBD) and contribute to developing/refining each fund’s investment strategy. They will assist with the preparation of due diligence materials/DDQs for various investment dealers and financial institutions, and with treasury management for each fund, including the underwriting of loan sale opportunities.
They will also create policies and procedures manuals, workflows, and reports for the newly created direct lending program (comprised of single advance loans funded 100% by private capital) and manage its day-to-day operations. Lastly, they will work collaboratively with CSMC’s Capital Markets team to create presentations, term sheets, and other materials for new funds/investment opportunities, with guidance from the SVP, and attend prospective investor meetings as required.
Key Accountabilities:
Portfolio Management
- Support SVP in the creation and presentation of BSHY, WCHY, & CSMT enhanced reporting
- Support SVP in all treasury management for CSMC funds
- Support SVP in conducting CSMC total portfolio analysis and risk rating
- Support SVP and Capital Markets team in the preparation of DDQs for potential investors
- Support SVP in ongoing investor relationship management for CSMC’s syndicated mortgage investors, as required
- In conjunction with the SVP, review each CSMT investment opportunity and, if suitable, recommend to its Investment Committee for approval
Direct Lending

In conjunction with the SVP, review each Loan Summary and Commitment Letter

Work closely with the Funding Team to ensure each deal closes in a timely fashion

Create P&P and standardized reporting with tracking managed through Salesforce and TMO
-
Create streamlined account/portfolio management process and monitor portfolio
Investment Strategy/Special Projects

Support the SVP and Capital Markets team on initiatives to expand CSMC’s investor and capital base (examples below): Senior Debt Fund

Self-Storage Fund

Work with the SVP and external legal counsel to structure and negotiate the detailed terms of each fund with investors, as opportunities arise

Set up legal entities required to facilitate the closing of each fund
Cameron Stephens Equity Capital (CSEC)

Support the SVP, Equity Capital team, and Capital Markets team in the creation of new equity funds/investment opportunities

Work with the SVP and external legal counsel to structure and negotiate the detailed terms of each equity deal and/or fund, as opportunities arise

Set up legal entities required to facilitate the closing of each fund/transaction

Key Skills and Competencies:

Strong project management skills and proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects across different workstreams; must be a self-starter.

High degree of proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; able to distill complex datasets into informative and visually appealing presentations, model scenarios, and interpret trends.

Comfortable working in CRM and reporting environments (e.g., Salesforce) to track deal flow and fund performance.

Undergraduate degree in business, finance, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the real estate industry. Previous investment fund experience is an asset.

High attention to detail and documentation accuracy.

High integrity and ownership mindset in executing tasks that impact fund performance and investor reporting.

Very strong communication skills—both written and verbal. Strong business writing skills are required.

Demonstrates professionalism and confidence in interacting with senior leadership, external consultants, and prospective investors.
