About the role

Great Blue Resorts owns and operates 10 private resort lakefront properties located throughout Ontario’s cottage country. These properties offer outright ownership of beautiful pre-manufactured seasonal recreational cottages. Our resorts have full facilities including community areas, swimming pools, splash pads, multi-sports courts, playgrounds and beaches.

Resort Skipper / Beach Hut Attendant Role Overview

The Resort Skipper / Boat Operator is a strong sales driver, profit focused and people oriented.

This Position is key to managing activities in the beach/marina and sustaining positive relationships, ensuring customer satisfaction and strong financial returns for investors while generating revenue through chargeable rentals of equipment.

Responsibilities

The Resort Skipper / Beach Hut Attendant is responsible for all waterfront activities, equipment and the safe operation and maintenance of all resort boats for our non-motorized lake.

The Resort Skipper / Beach Hut Attendant responsibility will include but not limited to the following:

  1. Operations and Sales

a. Greet and assist boaters upon arrival

b. Operate a cash register, and credit and debit terminals If Applicable

c. Power washing boats If applicable

d. Work may involve responsibility for the leasing and renting of boat space, collection of lease/rental fees, enforcing Marina rules and assisting boat owners in proper boat handling, mooring, or other assigned marine related functions

e. Complete inventory of concession items and restock when needed

  1. Equipment Management

a. Accurately check and evaluate equipment daily, including canoes, kayaks, fishing boats, water bikes/walkerz/balls, SUPs and paddleboats

b. Ensure safety equipment is in proper working condition, including life jackets, paddles, oars and safety kits.

c. Maintain accurate equipment inventory records.

d. Ensure all non-motorized equipment is kept clean and available.

e. Ensure life jackets are in pristine condition

  1. Property maintenance

a. Ensure beach is raked daily and chairs set up/organized

b. Ensure non-motorized water equipment area is clean, organized, well-presented.

  1. Support Duties

a. Support Housekeeping by emptying garbage containers, clean washrooms and showers,

b. Always Work safely and report unsafe activities immediately to your supervisor

c. Ensure safety of others on beach by enforcing resort rules such as no dogs on the beach, no smoking, no glass bottles etc.

Skills/Requirements

  • Prior customer service experience considered an asset
  • Comfortable working outdoors in differing weather conditions
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Conflict resolution skills considered an asset
  • Must have the physical dexterity to lift or move canoes, kayaks and other water equipment to and from shore.
