About the role

Reporting to the AEC Operations Specialist, the Drafting Technician is responsible for the development, preparation and quality assurance of Drawing Packages.

Primarily the Drafting Technician will be using Autodesk’s Revit software but will also be proficient in other CAD software’s such as Planitar Inc.’s Proprietary software Draft and Verisk's Xactimate. The ideal candidate for this position is a self-motivated individual with expertise in Revit, BIM, and Modeling, experience in a field related to engineering, and a keen eye for detail.

Job Duties:

Drafting & Quality Assurance**:**

  • Create Architectural Floor Plan Packages using Autodesk’s software, Revit, for Architecture, Construction & Engineering Clients.

  • Ensure Quality Assurance: Oversee the quality assurance process for drafting work to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards and client requirements.

  • Create DWG Floor Plans using Autodesk’s software, Revit, for Architecture, Construction & Engineering Clients.

  • Create RVT Models using Autodesk’s software, Revit, for Architecture, Construction & Engineering Clients.

  • Create 3D Isometric Models using Autodesk’s software, Revit, for Interior Design & Virtual Staging Clients. Choosing design features such as furnishings, materials, and artwork.

  • Create iGUIDE Floor Plans using Planitar’s proprietary software, Draft, for Residential, Commercial & Insurance Restoration Clients.

  • Create ESX Floor Plan Sketches using Verisk’s construction estimating software, Xactimate, Insurance Restoration Claims Clients.

  • Address and report issues that may surface during production to the iGUIDE Drafting Shift Leader.

  • Participate in cross-functional, continuous improvement initiatives as the opportunity presents itself.

  • Complete other tasks outside of drafting floor plans such as AI annotations, marketing research, information gathering, cases studies, etc.

  • Maintain and Achieve KPI Targets: Ensure that established KPI targets are consistently met by implementing effective strategies and managing daily operations.

  • Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Obtained a degree or diploma in Architectural Construction Engineering & Technology.

Experience:

  • 1+ years of Revit (BIM) experience (Must have)

Skills:

  • BIM Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Autodesk’s Revit.

  • Drafting and Preparation: Ability to develop and prepare detailed floor plan drawings with precision.

  • Quality Assurance: Skills in performing quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.

  • Technical Knowledge: Experience in a field related to engineering, providing a solid understanding of drafting principles and practices.

  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail to produce accurate and high-quality drawings.

  • Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently and stay motivated while managing tasks and meeting deadlines.

  • Problem-Solving: Capability to address and resolve any issues related to drafting or software use.

  • Organizational Skills: Proficiency in managing and organizing drafting tasks efficiently.

  • Adaptability: Flexibility to work with different CAD software and adapt to varying project requirements.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

  • Flexible starting times with 9-hour shifts, including lunch and breaks.

  • Flexible overtime availability.

Additional Requirements:

  • Reliable Commute: Must be able to reliably commute to the office.

  • In-Office Work: This is an in-office position. Employees are required to work from the office during standard business hours. Remote work or hybrid options are not available for this role.

  • Canadian Residency: Must be a permanent Canadian resident and have lived in Canada for 5+ years or more.
