As a Public Safety Systems Architect, you will ensure that technical specifications accurately reflect the business requirements of Public Safety services and solutions. You will maintain the integrity, availability, and performance of hardware and software systems and work closely with internal partners, business groups, and vendors to define technical requirements for issue fixes, enhancements, or new systems and processes. Primary duties include:
- Design, implement, and enhance Public Safety Solutions by gathering requirements and developing functional system specifications to improve business efficiency and productivity, acting as a liaison between the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) and other business units to provide technical solutions.
- Coordinate Public Safety System Solution design, deployment, and maintenance, looking after all phases of the software application and hardware lifecycle from initial design to eventual decommissioning.
- Coordinate resources such as Public Safety System Analysts, vendors, and contractors.
- Create and manage workplans based on client priorities for system enhancements and product upgrades/releases.
- Lead change management initiatives and drive innovation in the development, implementation, and support of public safety systems.
Qualifications
- A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related area and at least 5 years of related experience in system architecture design and analysis.
- Knowledge of Public Safety Systems technology standards and best practices is preferred.
- The following will be considered assets:
- Relational Database experience such as Microsoft SQL Server.
- Basic knowledge of scripting in Python.
- Object Oriented Programming such as C#, and/or PHP.
- Javascript, ReactJs or VueJs.
- An understanding of protocols and networking and security protocols.
- You have an interest in learning new technologies, strong communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to train and mentor staff.

- A security clearance will be conducted.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.

Position Type: 1 Temporary (up to 22 months)
Location: 1755 18 Avenue NE
Compensation: Pay Grade 13 $49.32 - 66.00 per hour
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
Audience: Internal/External
