About the role

**Product Owner, Security Operations (6 Month Contract)

Location: Remotely within British Columbia** Staffing Placement Opportunity Technology Requirements The successful candidate will not be provided a laptop but will receive a login for a Virtual Desktop, compatible with both Windows and MacOS, to be used on their own device.

Qualifications The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • A post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including leadership roles in Security Operations or Cyber Incident Response.
  • Proven experience managing a Security Operations Center (SOC) or a similar team.
  • Strong background in cybersecurity operations, including threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management.
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain trust-based relationships across both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Candidate must be under an existing and ongoing contract with their submitting company at the time of submission.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with SIEM, SOAR, EDR, and threat intelligence platforms.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, NIST CSF, etc.
  • Relevant certifications including CISSP, CISM, CISA, or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO).
  • Experience leading evaluations and implementations of security tools.
  • Strong capability in defining and tracking security metrics and KPIs.
  • Proven organizational and planning skills, with a record of delivering in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to coach and mentor team members, supporting a culture of continuous improvement.

SERVICES The Successful Candidate Will Be Responsible For

  • Acting as Incident Manager for cybersecurity incidents, including participating in crisis management for major events.
  • Developing and maintaining incident response processes and playbooks.
  • Leading Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and reviews.
  • Managing relationships with Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs), ensuring adherence to SLAs and performance targets.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams to drive security efforts.
  • Prioritizing and maintaining the product backlog, writing user stories, and ensuring deliverables are communicated effectively.
  • Providing regular updates to executive sponsors and leadership on incident trends and team progress.
  • Supporting evaluation, planning, and implementation of cybersecurity tools.
  • Performing additional duties as reasonably required by the designated project leadership.

SCHEDULE The candidate will provide up to 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Pacific Time, excluding statutory holidays in British Columbia. On-call availability outside of these hours may be required.
