Position Overview
The Corporate Accountant at Stella-Jones is responsible for ensuring accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting entries, as well as consolidation. The role involves a mix of financial analysis, and audit support to ensure the integrity of our financial statements.
This position is based at our Montreal HQ (in Saint-Laurent) in a hybrid work model (3 days in-office, 2 days remote).
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the month-end close process including accurate preparation and posting of corporate journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
- Coordinate with internal departments to prepare monthly and quarterly P&L analyses including Sales, Volumes, Margin, indirect manufacturing costs, selling and administration costs and other losses
- Conduct account analysis and review of all assigned balance sheet accounts including PPE, leases and remediation provision
- Respond and provide analysis/information to support management or divisions
- Prepare and review consolidated financial statements, including income statement, balance sheet, cash-flow statement and shareholder’s equity statement
- Assist in preparing notes to the consolidated financial statements
- Liaise with external auditors and provide necessary support and documentation
- Assist with preparing standalone financial statements for tax return purposes
- Additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Accounting work experience required; 7+ years preferred
- Excellent experience/knowledge with IFRS and financial reporting tools
- ERP systems experience required; SAP and/or Power BI preferred
- Fluent in English & working French (written & spoken)
- CPA designation preferred
