About the role

Our client is a well-established and growing credit union dedicated to serving their members with integrity and innovation. They are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Business Analyst with a strong background in lending to join their team on a 6-month contract. As a Business Analyst specializing in lending, you will play a critical role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions. You will be responsible for analyzing, defining, and documenting business requirements for their lending system, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory compliance. Your expertise in either commercial or retail lending, whether gained within the financial industry or on specific lending systems, will be essential to your success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across various departments (e.g., lending, operations, IT) to elicit, analyze, and validate business requirements for lending initiatives.
  • Document detailed business requirements, functional specifications, use cases, process flows, and other relevant documentation using industry best practices.
  • Analyze existing lending processes, identify pain points, and recommend solutions for process improvement and optimization.
  • Act as a liaison between business users and technical teams, translating business needs into technical specifications and vice versa.
  • Support the entire project lifecycle, from initial concept through to implementation and post-implementation review.
  • Participate in testing activities, including developing test cases, conducting user acceptance testing (UAT), and defect management.
  • Ensure that all solutions comply with relevant lending regulations and internal policies.
  • Provide clear and concise communication to stakeholders regarding project status, risks, and issues.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, with a significant focus on lending.
  • Demonstrable experience in either commercial lending or retail lending , gained within a financial institution (credit union, bank, etc.) or through extensive work on lending systems/platforms .
  • Proven ability to gather, analyze, and document complex business requirements.
  • Strong understanding of the lending lifecycle, including origination, underwriting, servicing, and collections.
  • Experience with various lending products (e.g., mortgages, personal loans, lines of credit, commercial loans).
  • Proficiency in creating process flows, use cases, and other analytical models.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
  • Proficiency with business analysis tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Visio, requirements management software).
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies.
