About the role

Family Practice ROS (200-1635)

The Ladysmith Family Practice is looking for a Family Physician to join their team to provide full-time full-scope family practice services to the patients of Ladysmith.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comprehensive Patient Care: Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic health conditions for patients of all ages, including preventive care, health screenings, vaccinations, and minor procedures.
  • Chronic Disease Management: Oversee the management of long-term health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and cardiovascular disease.
  • Women’s Health & Mental Health: Provide care for women’s health needs (e.g., Pap smears, contraception) and offer mental health support (e.g., anxiety, depression).
  • Family-Centered Care: Deliver comprehensive care to patients across the lifespan, from newborns to seniors, with a focus on building lasting relationships.
  • Telehealth & In-Person Appointments: Offer both in-person and telehealth services to meet the diverse needs of your patients. Charting will be completed using Telus Med Access EMR, ensuring seamless integration with our clinic’s systems and efficient patient care documentation.
  • Pre-booked & Same-Day Access Appointments: Provide both pre-booked and same-day access appointments for clinic patients to ensure timely care and flexibility.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside Family Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Social Workers, and Medical Office Assistants in a highly collaborative and supportive clinic environment.
  • Long-Term Care Support: Support the care of patients in a nearby Long-Term Care facility. This includes both virtual and on-site participation in care conferences to ensure comprehensive care planning and continuity of care for facility residents.

Overhead:

  • APP contract comes with $75000 overhead per FTE and is paid directly to Island Health. The physician is not expected to contribute extra overhead funding.

Benefits:

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), including (subject to change):

  • Recruitment Incentive: up to a maximum of $10,000 (pro-rated based on FTE)
  • Relocation: up to a maximum of $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from)
  • Flat fee: $6,508.80
  • Fee Premium: 4.20%
  • CME: $2,200/annum year 3-4 and $4,400/annum after 4 years in the community
