GHHS is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate COOK/Dietary Aide (Full-Time) for a Long Term Care Facility located in Gore Bay, ON. This is for a contract of 1 month, possibility of extension.
We are currently hiring a FULL-TIME Dietary Aide with the following duties:
- Ensures compliance with retirement home governing practices and standards for safe food handling, preparation, service and sanitation
- Responsible for the preparation/delivery of all food for home residents
- Review all daily and weekly requirements before preparing meals and snacks
- Performs daily responsibilities using Infection control practices
- Records all temperatures for fridges, freezers and storerooms daily on the audit form
- Prepares and serves foods for therapeutic diets according to planned menus,
- Following individual diet and food preferences using proper portion sizes
- Makes menu substitutions as necessary and records these in a designated place.
- Labels, dates and stores all food in the appropriate fashion
- Monitors quality of food supplies received and advises management of any issues
- Completes pre-start-up equipment checks as required
- Keeps work areas clean and completes scheduled cleaning duties
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have relevant experience working as a Dietary Aide/Cook in the Long Term Care Facility role (kitchen experience, cleaning experience, serving experience etc.) Culinary School for Cooks/Dietary Aide, Food Nutrition Diploma certificate etc. are an asset.
- Must have a Safe Food Handler’s Certificate
- Must have Proof of Immunizations such as MMR, Varicella, tDap & COVID vaccination passport showing at least 3 doses
- Must have 2-step TB test or chest x-ray and clear Vulnerable Sector Check within 6 months (Not later than January 2025)
- Must be available for all shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends and statutory holidays
