Job Description:
We currently have an opening for a Mechanical Technologist focused on HVAC and Buildings Systems for our Vancouver office, located in a state-of-the-art LEED® building. The successful candidate will work with engineers and other technologists to provide design, drafting, modelling and construction inspection services for a variety of public and private sector clients with a focus on the buildings and vertical infrastructure sectors. The successful candidate will gain experience in multiple market areas which could include the following: municipal water and wastewater, education and research, government and emergency services, sports and recreation, industrial and office space, and arts and culture.

Responsibilities include the following:

Perform detailed drafting under the mentorship of the Lead Design Engineer/Technologist or PM.

Perform general design activities independently and under the mentorship of a Lead Design Engineer/Technologist or PM.

Act as resource and technical drawing coordinator when required (CAD/BIM Lead).

Contribute to the team’s technical knowledge resources.

Support BIM Management activities.

Ensure BIM Standards, Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures are followed during drawing planning and production.
Job Requirements:
- A Diploma or Certificate in Engineering Design & Drafting, Building Environmental Systems Technology or equivalent from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- Eligible for registration with ASTTBC is an asset.
- Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of the BC and National Building Codes, National Plumbing Code, ASHRAE standards, and NFPA is an asset.
- Familiar with data processing and spreadsheets.
- Technical skills in the design of HVAC and building plumbing.
- Proficient in using HAP or similar building simulation software.
- Experience in construction inspection is an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
